Students must be at least 16 years of age to participate in most courses and must have a signed waiver by a parent or legal guardian prior to the start of the class.

For students ages 13 – 15 years old, please contact us at 585-349-7110 to discuss class opportunities.

Most courses are not appropriate for students ages 12 years old and younger.

Safety is our number one concern at Rochester Arc + Flame Center. Please contact us at 585-349-7110 before registering for classes., If you have any concerns pertaining to your hearing, vision, hand dexterity, or mental health, or any other disability that would impact your ability to participate in class.

  • Boots or leather shoes that cover the entire foot
  • Full length jeans that cover the entire leg and ankle
  • T-shirt (cotton or nonflammable material)

For your safety, failure to comply with this attire may result in being unable to participate in the class. Thank you for your cooperation & understanding!

  • No refunds or credits are provided to students who cancel within 48 hours of their class or who are a no call/ no show
  • 14 or more days’ notice of the class date: Option of a refund (minus a $20 processing fee) or class credit for the full amount
  • 2 – 13 days’ notice of the class date: Class credit for the full amount
  • Less than 2 days’ notice of the class date: No refund and no class credit

Blacksmithing Couples Date Night

Join us for one of the hottest dates nights in town! At the Rochester Arc + Flame Center our events are sure to spark the flame between you and your partner! Using hammers & heat, students will turn flat sheet steel into beautiful & creative 3D objects. Projects focus on learning hammer control through applied texture and manipulating steel with heat. At the end of class, you will have made a lovely keepsake along with lasting memories.    

Our experienced instructors will use a combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on instruction at the forge to enhance your learning experience. These classes are great for beginners and experienced smithers!

All safety equipment, tools, and smithing materials are included in the course price.

Impressive Date Night

My gf and i went on a rose date, and really didn't know what to expect. From the teacher, to the results it was just impressive and enjoyable. I highly recommend for date, family or a friends night.

Best Date Ever

My partner and I absolutely loved the class and what we were able to bring home, and the instructor Joe makes learning the craft feel fun and natural, even for both us first timers!

Date Night

It was a lot of fun. We did really well. The roses turned out better than both of us expected. The instructions were great. We will certainly do another class. A little pricey, but we could make it happen again further down the road. Certainly will recommend to friends/family.

Best Date Night Ever!

This place is amazing. Joe our instructor was the best. Purchased this as a valentines date night for me and my significant other. What I thought was gonna be just annok night turned our to be the most amazing. We were actually making roses using blacksmithing tools and techniques. Forging metal into a rose. Joe and his assistant Katie were on hand to assist with techniques but the artistry of how we forged our rose was subject to individual artisty.
Will be looking into more of their workshops that they offer and attending more of them.
