Become a Welder

Start Your Career Today

Get trained, and get working! Our Welding & Fabrication Certificate Program provides students the knowledge and skills required for entry level employment in the field. Welders are in demand in countless industries. Decades of few new workers entering the trades have left vocations like welding with an aging workforce and shortage of qualified people. The Rochester Arc + Flame has partnered with Monroe Community College to offer a Certificate program to help Rochester area workers get the relevant training they need to get jobs in the exciting and rewarding field of welding.

The Program

Hands-on learning. A shorter completion time than traditional college. Affordable tuition and an opportunity to join the workforce in under a year. Thats what the Rochester Arc + Flame Welding & Fabrication Certificate program is all about. The program is 450-hours focused on learning the fundamentals of GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and Flux Core welding processes, as well as metal fabrication skills. The curriculum combines a rigorous amount of hands-on learning, academic lectures, written and online assignments, blue-print reading, quizzes and tests, and collaborative group projects. Students also take a 10-hour OSHA training session and classes in shop math, resume writing, and interviewing. Our 20-week program is held twice a year and runs Monday through Friday for 4 1/2 hours each day. Our 40-week program is held once a year on Tuesday & Thursday evenings plus 1 weekend a month. Both formats feature identical curriculum and tuition costs.

Industry Certificate and AWS Qualifications

Graduates of the program received an industry certificate from the Monroe Community College, along with a minimum of 6 American Welding Society Qualification tests. On-site AWS Qualification training and testing is conducted to give students the ability to specialize in areas that will help them obtain their desired career. All AWS Qualification testing is included in the course price. Tuition also includes professional welding gear valued at over $900 for each student to use during the program and on the job.
