Chainmail Sampler

Learn the basics of Chainmail – the art of linking jump rings into a specific pattern, most commonly the European 4-in-1 weave, where each ring passes through four others to create a flexible sheet of armor or decorative fabric.

When registering, students can choose to make a beautiful bracelet or functional pot scrubber.

Bracelet: students will have the opportunity to make their own bracelet by learning and applying the Byzantine weave or European 4 in 1. Students will use jump rings and small tools to create their own wearable piece of art. Choose from a wide variety of colors and add a personalized touch to your jewelry collection. These projects are great to keep for yourself or gift to others!

Pot Scrubber: students will receive the instructions, rings, and pliers necessary to learn the European 4-1 Chainmaille Technique and create their own Pot Scrubber (approx. 4” x 4”). Students will begin this project in class to fully understand the process. At the end of the session, students will take all materials with them to finish their project at home in their own time.

All safety equipment, tools, and materials are included in the tuition.

No prior experience or training is needed to attend. This class is suitable for students ages 13 years and above. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Creating beautiful Byzantine chainmail bracelet

I spent a fun and creative 3 hours at a chain mail jewelry worship at the Arc and Flame. Our instructor Craig was outstanding. He demonstrated and explained the intricate process very clearly and gave one on one help to every student. He shared stories and examples of the chainmail art he has created on his own artistic journey into this ancient and fascinating art form.
The location was super easy to find and the facilities were beautiful with glass art displayed and for sale in the lobby. There were drinks and refreshments to enjoy during the workshop. Everyone was fully engaged in the masterpieces they were creating. And all the participants left the workshop with a finished chainmail bracelet woven in the Byzantine style.
