Students must be at least 16 years of age to participate in most courses and must have a signed waiver by a parent or legal guardian prior to the start of the class.

For students ages 13 – 15 years old, please contact us at 585-349-7110 to discuss class opportunities.

Most courses are not appropriate for students ages 12 years old and younger.

Attire Policy Attire Policy

Boots or leather shoes that cover the entire foot
Full length jeans that cover the entire leg and ankle
T-shirt (cotton or nonflammable material)

Refund Policy Refund Policy

No refunds or credits are provided to students who cancel within 48 hours of their class or who are a no call/ no show
14 or more days’ notice of the class date: Option of a refund (minus a $20 processing fee) or class credit for the full amount
2 – 13 days’ notice of the class date: Class credit for the full amount
Less than 2 days’ notice of the class date: No refund and no class credit

Blacksmithing Workshop

Arc + Flame's Blacksmithing Workshops are an excellent way to learn and explore the trade. Skill Builder Workshops focus on the fundamental techniques in blacksmithing. These can include tapering, bending & straightening, upsetting, twisting, punching, cutting, joinery, and hammer control. Student practice samples will vary for each class and students will be able to take their finished products with them.

Our experienced instructors will use a combination of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on instruction at the forge to enhance your learning experience. These classes are great for beginners and experienced smithers!

All safety equipment and smithing materials are included in the course price.

Note: Breakfast snacks and lunch will be provided. Please contact the Arc + Flame Center at least 72-hours prior to the event regarding any food allergies or restrictions.
