Learn the basics of moving of metal in a comfortable women's only environment.  Guys are often good things to have around but to be honest, they think differently than us and learning from them is often challenging.  This class will be taught by women for women.  We will use a combination of lecture, demonstration and hands-on instruction at the forge to enhance your learning experience.

Intro to Blacksmithing Intensive - A 3-day class to get you fully immersed! You'll cover the three skill building topics shown below.

Tapering - Learn the fundamentals of hammer control and drawing out stock. Tapering is simply changing the cross section of the metal in a controlled fashion. This is an excellent primer for those interested in learning to forge blades which are just complex tapers.

Twists - Learn the fundamentals of decorative twisting. We will start with simple square stock and progress to more complex composite pieces based on students abilities.

Forge Welding - Learn the fundamentals of using coal forges for joining steel with heat and hammers. Students will practice and destructively test various forge welds.

These classes are designed as skill building endeavors that focus on the fundamental techniques used in working steel. Students will work building the skills needed to be able to take their projects to the next level.
