(Update as of 9/22/20) We are closed for retail/walk-in traffic on Wednesday (9/23), Thursday (9/24), and Friday (9/25) for maintenance! The studio will NOT be open to the general public on these days. We appreciate your understanding. If you need assistance, please email info@rocafc.com or leave a voicemail at 585-349-7110. We’ll do our best to return your question in 24-hours. Thank you for your cooperation.

Arc + Flame is still not cleared to run any classes for the general public, including open torch flameworking. As a result, we have postponed all classes through Sept. 30th, 2020. This is based entirely on New York State’s mandates pertaining to COVID. Our center is open for retail and walk-in customers from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Our Fall 2020 Welding & Fabrication Industry Certificate Program through Monroe Community College is currently able to run because of direct partnership with higher education. The same goes for our collegiate welding classes for engineering students through Rochester Institute of Technology and machining and HVAC students through Monroe Community College. Please read our re-open plan for more details. We appreciate your understanding.

Camp Knife

Well-made camp knives can be so important when you're out in the woods. They are much more than just a useful tool, and this class will give you the opportunity to create one of your very own.

Taught by Joel Worley, this five-day class will see students make their own camp knives from high carbon steel. All aspects of bladesmithing will be covered, from forging the blade to shaping, then heat treating, grinding and polishing, making and fitting a wooden handle and finally, sharpening - with very special attention given to the design and geometry of this kind of knife. This class is intended as an introductory bladesmithing class, but some forging experience is helpful and a Tapering class is a prerequisite.

An American Bladesmith Society (ABS) Journeyman Smith and a board member of Southern Ohio Forge & Anvil (SOFA), Joel lives in northwest Ohio and has been making knives for 12 years.  He has demonstrated Damascus and blade forging at the Mid America ABS Hammer-In and teaches several bladesmithing classes yearly both at SOFA and at his personal shop.

NOTE: Bladesmithing Classes are very interactive and involve significant
