(Update as of 9/22/20) We are closed for retail/walk-in traffic on Wednesday (9/23), Thursday (9/24), and Friday (9/25) for maintenance! The studio will NOT be open to the general public on these days. We appreciate your understanding. If you need assistance, please email info@rocafc.com or leave a voicemail at 585-349-7110. We’ll do our best to return your question in 24-hours. Thank you for your cooperation.

Arc + Flame is still not cleared to run any classes for the general public, including open torch flameworking. As a result, we have postponed all classes through Sept. 30th, 2020. This is based entirely on New York State’s mandates pertaining to COVID. Our center is open for retail and walk-in customers from 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday. Our Fall 2020 Welding & Fabrication Industry Certificate Program through Monroe Community College is currently able to run because of direct partnership with higher education. The same goes for our collegiate welding classes for engineering students through Rochester Institute of Technology and machining and HVAC students through Monroe Community College. Please read our re-open plan for more details. We appreciate your understanding.

5 Fussy Projects

There are several skills that every blacksmith needs in their repertoire, the most basic being hammer control and understanding of material movement. After getting a handle on this, a smith needs to begin developing other skills like project development, design, and finishing, just to name a few.

Mark will lead students through a different project each day of the class. While each project has its own difficulties, they all require careful attention to detail and order of operations.

This is five days of fun frustration after which you will be a better smith!

NOTE: For the seasoned beginner to intermediate smith. Students must have prior forging experience. Not appropriate for students with no experience.

NOTE: Blacksmithing Classes are very interactive and involve significant physical activity. Please make sure to wear close-toed sneakers or boots, jeans and a cotton t-shirt. Do NOT wear flip-flops, open toed shoes or highly flammable clothing. If you any have concerns with your vision, hearing, hand dexterity or mental health please contact Arc + Flame Center at 585-349-7110 before signing up for this class. We want to ensure the best possible class experience for all of our students!
