Looking for a way to heat up your relationship or just do something outrageously cool? Tired of the same old dinner, bar or movie? Bring your loved one or buddy out to Arc + Flame for a fun evening in our blacksmith shop. We provide everything: entertaining instructors, light snacks, beverages and all the materials necessary to make a beautiful finished project with your partner. Projects vary by date so be sure to check the listing. The cost covers one couple (2 people) for the price of $180.

NOTE: The Blacksmith Date Night is a very interactive class that involves significant physical activity. If this sounds like your idea for a great experience, we promise you an evening that you will remember for years to come!
Please make sure to wear close-toed sneakers or boots, jeans and a cotton t-shirt. Do NOT wear flip-flops, open toed shoes or highly flammable clothing.

Details: 

  • 4-hour class period: 7:00pm-11:00pm (*Unless otherwise noted)
  • Enrollment: 4 to 10 students (2-5 couples)
  • Experience required: None
  • All materials and safety equipment included
  • Light appetizers, soft drinks and water included
  • Complimentary coffee available and vending machines

Project Descriptions:

  • Rose: Come create a beautiful piece of art to decorate your home or give as a gift to someone you care about. This project focuses on learning hammer control through applied texture. Students will also get to express their creative side while forming the individual petals into a cohesive flower. (Open to all levels)
  • Musical Hooks: Come create a beautiful piece of art to decorate your home or give as a gift to someone you care about. This project focuses on learning hammer control through tapering and scrolling.  Students will also get to express their creative side while forming the scroll into pleasing forms. (Open to all levels)
  • Picture Frame: Come create a beautiful piece of art to decorate your home or give as a gift to someone you care about. This project focuses on learning connections through half-lap joints and riveting. Students will also get to express their creative side while texturing the components of their frame. (Open to all levels)
  • Split Cross/Shamrock:  Come create a beautiful piece of art to decorate your home or give as a gift to someone you care about. This project focuses on learning metal movement and hammer control through shaping and applied texture. Students will also get to express their creative side while forming the material into either a cross or a shamrock. (Open to all levels)
  • Cheese Knife/Spreader: Come create a beautiful piece of art to decorate your home or give as a gift to someone you care about. This project focuses on learning hammer control through shaping the blade portion of the cheese knife/spreader and twisting the handle. Students will also get to express their creative side while forming the handle into a comfortable shape. (Open to all levels)
  • Pizza Cutter:  Learn to create a pizza cuter out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of forming and decorating with the anvil, hammer and tooling to give the pizza cutter shape and character. (Open to all levels)
  • Heart HookLearn to create a hook with a heart finial out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of forming with the anvil and hammer to give the heart shape and character. (Open to all levels)
  • Tree Hook: Learn the most utilized blacksmithing techniques of tapering and bending while making a decorative holiday hook to hang your hat on! Well you could really hang anything. The focus of the sampler will be on manipulating the metal to create a pine tree shape. (Open to all levels)
