Basic Drawing and Layout Night Course for Welding

This class is a follow up to our Math and Measurements Night Course for Welding. It is also intended to provide support and additional training for students enrolled in our Industry Certificate Welding & Fabrication Program. This includes candidates still in the admissions process AND/ OR already accepted students. With that said, all interested students are welcome to enroll.

The primary goal of welding is to create a construction out of multiple component parts based on the provided project drawings.  The purpose of the drawings is to capture the geometric features of a component and convey the information that we will need to produce the final unit.  Typically, the components can be broken down into fundamental shapes like circles, rectangles and triangles.  With an understanding of geometry and the ability to read these drawings, we will be able to successfully and efficiently complete a given project.  These abilities are an essential part of having a successful career in welding and fabrication.

There are two main areas of math that are crucial for welders: arithmetic and geometry.  This course covers the basic geometry, as well as sketching and print reading, as used in real world examples and problems from the welding and fabrication industry. It will also cover common measurement tools and how to use them.  The pre-requisite class, Basic Math and Measurements, will cover arithmetic.

NOTE: This is an academic class. We will NOT be welding.
