NOTE: Students under the age of 16 MUST contact Arc + Flame Blacksmithing Director (Candace Martens) for an evaluation prior to enrolling in a smithing class. Looking for a way to heat up your relationship or just do something outrageously cool? Tired of the same old dinner, bar or movie? Bring your loved one or buddy out to Arc + Flame for a fun evening in our blacksmith shop. We provide everything: entertaining instructors, light snacks, beverages and all the materials necessary to make a beautiful finished project with your partner. Projects vary by date so be sure to check the listing. The cost covers one couple (2 people) for the price of $200.

      Details: 

      • 4-hour class period: 7:00pm-11:00pm or 6:00pm-10:00pm (*Unless otherwise noted)
      • Enrollment: 4 to 10 students (2-5 couples)
      • Experience required: None
      • All materials and safety equipment included
      • Light appetizers, soft drinks and water included
      • Vending machines available

      NOTE: The Blacksmithing Date Night is a very interactive class that involves significant physical activity. If this sounds like your idea for a great experience, we promise you an evening that you will remember for years to come!
        Please make sure to wear boots, sneakers, or other shoes that cover your entire foot, jeans or other pants that cover your entire leg, and a cotton t-shirt. Do NOT wear flip-flops, open toed shoes, yoga/sweatpants, leggings or highly flammable clothing.       Come create a beautiful piece of art to decorate your home or give as a gift to someone you care about. This project focuses on learning hammer control through applied texture. Students will also get to express their creative side while forming the individual petals into a cohesive flower. (Open to all levels)

        

      Learn to create a metal dog's head by hot forging. The class will go over how to use the various parts of the anvil to develop the defining areas of a dog's head then decorative punches will be used to add features. Once the head is finished the student will complete the other end with a useful bottle opener. (Open to all levels)

       

      Learn to create a bottle opener out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of creating a long taper, scrolling it and testing it. Once the bottle opener is finished the student will complete the other end with a twist and/or a decorative finial as time permits. (Open to all levels)

      Learn to create a metal dog's head by hot forging. The class will go over how to use the various parts of the anvil to develop the defining areas of a dog's head then decorative punches will be used to add features. Once the head is finished the student will complete the other end with a useful hook for holding a leash or other things. (Open to all levels)

      Learn to create a metal humming bird by hot forging. The class will go over how to use the various parts of the anvil to develop the defining areas of birds body then decorative punches will be used to add features. Once the bird is finished the instructor will add a post or hook for mounting with welding. (Open to all levels)

      Learn to create a free-flowing tabletop wine bottle holder out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of forming and shaping with the anvil and hammer to give the wine bottle holder shape and character. Final tweaking for balance will be done with the torch. (Open to all levels)

      Celebrate National Prosecco Day by making your own yard stakes to hold your wine glasses! Learn to create your own relaxing yard accessories by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of creating decorative wine glass holders for relaxing by the camp fire and enjoying your favorite sparking wine cocktail. (Open to all levels)

      Celebrate National Bubble Bath Day by creating a one of kind candle holder. You'll be able to add flickering light to your next relaxing evening with a candle holder you made yourself! So come learn to create a candle holder out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of forming and shaping with the anvil, hammer and tooling to give the candle holder shape and character. (Open to all levels)

      Come create a beautiful piece of art to decorate your home or give as a gift to someone you care about. This project focuses on learning hammer control through tapering and scrolling.  Students will also get to express their creative side while forming the scroll into pleasing forms. (Open to all levels)
