(Update as of 10/17/20) Greats news! We received notification from New York State that indoor arts and education categorized businesses are FINALLY able to re-open to the general public! Arc + Flame is evaluating the fine details and will act accordingly. Stay tuned for more announcements during the week! Earlier this month, Arc + Flame postponed all classes through 2020. We will evaluate the new mandates and provide details on re-opening soon. Our center is open for retail and walk-in customers on Monday 9am-5pm, Wednesday 10AM-6PM, and Friday 9am-5pm.

We are actively interviewing candidates interested in our Welding & Fabrication Program set to begin February 2021. This program is directly partnered through Monroe Community College. Contact us today for details on the admissions process!

Our Fall 2020 Welding & Fabrication Industry Certificate Program through Monroe Community College is currently able to run because of direct partnership with higher education [based on NYS Phase 4 COVID guidelines]. The same goes for our collegiate welding classes for engineering students through Rochester Institute of Technology and machining and HVAC students through Monroe Community College.

Project Descriptions:

  • Wall Hook: Learn to create a wall hook out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of creating a taper and how to form with the anvil to give the hook shape. (Open to all levels)

  • Horse Head: Learn to create a metal horse head by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of creating shoulders to develop the defining areas of a horse's head then decorative punches will be used to add features. Once the head is finished the student will complete the other end with a twist and/or a decorative finial as time permits. (Open to all levels)
  • Eagle HeadProject details will be available soon! Check our website often for all the latest updates and class info!
  • Bottle Opener: Learn to create a bottle opener out of metal by hot forging. The class will go over the basic operations of punching a slot, drifting it open, using a punch to set a tab and testing it. Once the bottle opener is finished the student will complete the other end with a twist and/or a decorative finial as time permits. (Open to all levels)
  • Goblin: Project details will be available soon! Check our website often for all the latest updates and class info!
  • Carving Fork: Learn to make a show stopper for the next time you host thanksgiving! Students will learn to split the end of a bar, forge out the tines and shape a carving fork out of mild steel. After the fork is done the student will complete the other end with a twist and/or a decorative finial as time permits. (Open to all levels)

    Arc + Flame Blacksmithing Samplers are an excellent way to get a taste of forging. Our experienced instructors will use a combination of lecture, demonstration and hands-on instruction at the forge to enhance your learning experience.

    These classes are designed as teasers to let you experience what it's like to work hot steel. Focus will be on the fundamentals of hammer control to get the steel to respond the way you want it to.

    NOTE: Blacksmithing Classes are very interactive and involve significant physical activity. Please make sure to wear close-toed sneakers or boots, jeans and a cotton t-shirt. Do NOT wear flip-flops, open toed shoes or highly flammable clothing.
